NOTW...and birthdays?

NOTW...Not Of This World...some of you have probably heard of it (and yes, it is the name of this blog :P). What it means is that as Christians, we are "not of the world". We have a place in heaven, so earth, or the world, is just something we pass through before we gp where we really belong.

and birthdays. today is the day i am finally allowed to see PG-13 movies without an adult :) yupp, my 13th birthday :D i realized this morning that sometimes we excpect more than we're gonna get out of somehthing. like, little kids are super hyped about being a year older...but the older you get...you just kinda stop caring. birthdays'll get less and less special. We'll often expect alot more out of something (ex, a birthday) than you'll really get.

...same with life. alot of the times...we'll look for more in life than we'll get. the world won't give us much. neither will the people in it. people will die, things will be destroyed. again. we can't trust anything uneternal.

but God and Heaven ARE eternal. they won't fail us. but many of us don't trust God to save us. or we need proof. or maybe we've never heard something like this before. i don't know. it's not between you and me, or you and your friends. it's just between you and God. He's the ultimate judge. if you turn to Him, but don't change to us earthly people...He'll know. God will know if somehting changes in your heart. <3

i agree with this quote. i DO need proof. i don't believe in God right now, but if you can prove it with a reasonable amount of evidence, then i would believe that there is god.

  4. A question: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all seem to have the same roots, with the no god but god idea, and Abraham, Moses, etc.
What makes Christianity the right religion? What makes your God the right God? If the Bible is the proof, which Bible? The current one has been translated, and modified many times, so how do you know that what you read is right? Is there proof that the Bible is legitimate validation for Christianity?

  5. hmmmm you did...*FACEPALM* stupid me -.- sorry...I'll remember next time :D

anyway, I think that we should get the most out of life. We can only go through it once, so we should make it count.

"the world won't give us much, or the people in it"

But that shouldn't stop you from giving to other people, like Jesus, who sacrificed himself for everyone else.

If we all did something selfless, no matter how big or how small, then maybe we will get what we look for in life.

by the way, zmxncbv is river lol

  6. OH. well, that would make sense. RIVER, I SEE YOU, NOW THAT I HAVE (or rater michael has) REVEALED YOUR IDENTITY >:D

okay. well, "the world won't give us much, or the people in it". if you're looking for something more out of life, don't look for it in THIS life. as christians, we can look forward to a better one; after we die here on earth. but knowing that should make you hold back on living life to the fullest. we should still do that. but just don't EXPECT to get more out of life than you will.

and river (>:D), think about it. the Bible, which is over fifty books, are all centered (for the most part)on Jesus, his crucifixion, his raising from the dead, etc. alot of these books were written hundreds of years prior to these events, and by different people who never even met each other. how could several books, containing the same information and predicting the same thing be false? and years before these things even happened! even when the authors lived within generations within each other. they never got their ideas from each other, yet prophesied the same exact things. even historians admit (or rather confirm) that Jesus was (and still is) a real human being. they don't believe that he was (is) also God. but that's besides the point.

like. some other religions believe the basic things that i do. just some of their thoughts on evolution, for example, differ from mine. but if you believe in evolution or not...you don't need to believe a certain way in order to get into heaven. all that matters is your sincerity and that change in your heart <3

  8. ok. disguise gone. >:(
Your reason for the Bible being valid was the different authors and the same story, right? The Bible could have been written at a later date, after the stories had been passed down orally, such as the case with the Qur'an. Also, the stories could have been put together at a later date, and part of it was, Christians taking the Old Testament from the Jewish Torah, and adding on the New Testament. The New Testament could have been either passed down orally, or it could have been written all at one time, after the authors of the individual chapters had said their fill. Stories passed down orally can be changed, and stories written and compiled after their original telling also can be changed. The Old Testament was originally the Jewish Torah, so if the Christians had just taken the Old Testament, and proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah, there would be no discrepancy over the time gap, as the Torah didn't explicitly said WHO the Messiah would be. The question is now, what proves that Jesus was the Messiah, and part of the Trinity?
And in response to the last part, doesn't that statement imply that all you need to do is believe in getting into heaven, regardless of what religion you choose to follow?

  9. "The question is now, what proves that Jesus was the Messiah, and part of the Trinity?"

The proof lies in the fact that he predicted his resurrection, and accomplished it. You know anyone else who rose from the dead, let alone, predicted it? Booya!

I'm curious about something: for those of you who don't believe in Christianity, what do you think about the Resurrection? Do people just not talk about it or do people believe that it really didn't happen?

In response to the last part, it DOES matter what/who you believe in. It has to be Jesus.

  10. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through me." ~Jesus

You can't buy your way into Heaven, as we learned with Martin Luther, the Reformation and such. It's faith alone. But you need to make sure you put your faith in the right thing/person. Like investments. Be sure that you're contributing money towards the right things.

So with your faith, be sure to put it in God/Jesus alone, and just trust Him. Don't count on anything else to save you. Only He can! :)
