Walking into walls...

got this idea from haram, so give the credit to her :)

alriiiiigggghhhhtttt. more thoughts on us Christians being not of this world :)
as humans, we have sin, one of those sins being stubbornness. we'll want to do things our way, we'll always think we're right and won't want to accept anything other than what WE want. right? society is all "me, me, me". they think they're the center of attention, that we're "all that".
anyway.
we want to do things the way WE want to, want to control our OWN lives right? you wouldn't want to hand over all you're working towards, all that hard work you've invested into your life and just hand it off to someone saying "you run my life. i'll let you control me from now on"
most of us wouldn't do that.
so what we're doing is walking into a wall.
Jesus is chasing after us, trying to bring us into the light. offering us his love and eternal grace. his mercy, his kindness.
and what're we doing?
running away from it all.
we're walking into a wall. a blockage. we don't want to accept into our live what jesus wants to give to us.
we want to do things our way.
what Jesus is saying is "look. you're going the wrong way. you're walking into a wall. you won't get anywhere like that. let me help you."
and we shy away from him, continuing to run away from a better life we could be having because we're too stubborn to turn around. we keep thinking to ourselves, "i can do it. i'm going the right way. I can figure it out."
but all we need to do is turn around, and run back to The One who made us, loves us, died for us. all we need to do is say "Lord, come into my life. i've been going the wrong way all this time, wading in my sin, doing what I wanted to do. But it's not all about me. i want you to take over my life and transform it into what you want it to be. make it a life of peace, joy, and happiness. take away my sorrows, my pains, my hurts, and replace it with everlasting, true genuine peace."
and that's it.
it will be just that if you just surrendur all that you have, and all that you've worked towards.
pull away from that wall you've been so desperately trying to fight. you won't be able to walk though it.

and as Christians, we're fighting the flow. we're running away from the wall, running towards an abundant and happy life. but the rest of society is pushing us back towards te wall, tempting us, taunting us saying, "you can run your own life. do what YOU want. you don't have to listen to anyone." and there they go, just pushing against the wall, looking for a way out. but they're too prideful to turn around, and admit they've been going the wrong way.

just turn around :)
there will be someone waiting with open arms, ready to transform you into something wonderful and beautiful.
there will be someone ready to die for you, to save your life.
there will be someone ready to trade all the bad things in life for joy and peace.
he's waiting for you. he's been waiting for forever. :)

  1. Your post reminds me of some old lyrics:

"Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight You for something
    I don't really want
Than to take what You give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls
Now I'm falling down, I'm falling on my knees"

  2. What's life without pain and suffering? Without them, how can we truly appreciate joy and happiness?

We only get to live our lives once, so we should experience all we can lest we regret it later. You could see that as "running into a wall" or you could see that as "exploring the unexplored"

If people are happy, and content with their lives, Who is to judge whether they are going the "right way" or not?

Life is multi-faceted. Things cannot be divided into "Sin" or "not-a-sin" Soldier's fight to protect their country, their love ones, but they kill other people. Is that a sin? By the commandements, it is. But they do it to help to maintain the peace and order...should they punished for that? A thief would steal bread for his family who are on verge of death and starvation. Is that a sin? Yes. According to the commandments, yes it is.But he did it to save his family. Should he be punished for that?

I suggest the series "Incarnations of Immortality" It is an amazing series of books which gives insights to religions, especially Christianity.

p.s. if you get Mrs.Garrison she has the whole series. Awesome teacher :D

  3. are you content and happy? i think, when we do wrong things, we aren't exactly content and happy. guilty is probably the more correct word. we all, at some point in time, will have a heart, a conscience. some people do, in time, lose it or mute it, but generally when we do something wrong, we feel guilty.
and i've heard it so many times, people without God in their lives feel empty, like there's something missing, something greater than themselves. so instead of turning to God, some people turn to other things: academics, smoking, drugs, parties, relationships, etc. and yet, it's just throwing stuff that really isn't fulfilling into a God-sized hole in your heart.

that is very true. life is multi-faceted. but in the Bible, the old testament was created for those without Jesus, so that they would have some structure to live their lives, i believe. in the new testament, Jesus came, and died, to set us free from those boundaries, so that those "rules" did not look to bind us, but to set us free. they are still sins, but Jesus forgives us for them.
even the most perfect Christian, the superdisciple, they have all sinned. and that's part of human nature. we are not perfect. we are not God. Jesus came to set us free, not to bind us down, so no. if they believe in His name, they will know that God will provide for them. but if they do not believe, then their fate is the same as everyone else who did not believe. God, on judgement day, will say that He never knew them, and He will have to send them to hell.
in the Bible it says that although the pigeons do not reap or sow anything, God gives them food. and yet, you are worth much, much more than a pigeon, or even a flock of pigeons. how much more will God provide for you?
war is also a product of sin, if we weren't selfish and greedy, then there wouldn't be wars to begin with.

you bring up very valid points. and i respect that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. two things i suggest.
    1) while reading this, open your mind to what this girl is saying, all of her points are backed by the Bible.
    2) where you suggest the series "Incarnations of Immortality" i suggest that you read the Bible! get to know our point of view, get to know our Jesus. i've heard it said by even a non-Christian, how much would you have to hate a person to not want them to share the same eternity as you, a blissful eternity instead of one filled with hate and pain?
and we do want you to believe, ian. we'll be praying for you. :]

  4. huh. that was actually part two of my thing..
NO! the first part didn't go throughh :[

  5. basically, the first part was something like,

we do know pain and suffering, 'cause as humans, we will chance on it more often than not. it's natural. that's how we are. we aren't perfect, 'cause we aren't God. we'll mess up.
but, we also will shy away from pain and suffering most of the time, because we are engineered that way. not many of us are natural masochists.
it's true you need both sides of the spectrum to fully understand either side. but having lived in pain, clouded in sin, weighed down by the burdens of this world, how awesome would it be to know that you have a way out? and to know that you actually do have a way out?
Jesus! He came to die for us, our sins, once and for all.
i say, what's life WITH pain and suffering? that isn't really life, thats more like, you're living on borrowed time. you aren't really living.
instead of living selfishly, Jesus calls us to love everyone, and to listen to His words. to believe in Him, and The One who sent Him, God.
we are sinners, and a few verses that demonstrate this are: John 15:13, "'Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.'" Jesus' words. Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." and 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us." God is shown so much in our lives, even if you don't believe in Him, even if you don't know Him. without God, we are living a life without a purpose. there is nothing after this life then.

lest we regret this life? this life is temporary, superficial, whereas compared to after, where it's PERMANENT and very, very real. hell, described as a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth, lake of fire, unbearable heat, pain and torture, separation from God. eternal. heaven, described as perfect peace, bliss, love, God, fellowship with Him, nothing bad, complete harmony. also eternal. would you rather live a full life now, completely selfish, and deal with the consequence of hell? or would you rather give your life to God (which does not imply losing your life or giving up your life, it implies freedom and love and grace) and find yourself in heaven? for one, if i were not a Christian, i would totally hands down choose example number two. 'cause eternal, heck, we live maybe 70, 80 years max? and this life is so wavering, so unstable. people committing suicide, people committing homicide, murder, etc.
running into a wall can also be seen as.. running into a wall. plainly, simply, that's it. you run into the wall, you die, then the wall disappears and you fall into the devil's trap. or, you turn around, 180, and run towards Jesus, who will always be there for you, has always been there for you, and is right there, right now. now that, is exploring the unexplored. we already know this world, 'cause we were born into it. explore Jesus. He deserves even that much.
He died for us, once and for all. the perfect sacrifice. the most painful death i can imagine.
try and see what we're saying. we are not of this world, because we are meant for something more. cs lewis said something along the lives of, if i feel a craving for something nothing thie world can satisfy, then the only logical solution is that i'm not meant for this world.

dang it, i can't remember everything i wrote the first time.
